About DIEHARDave's Workshop
I'm DIEHARDave. I tinker with 3D printers and write open-source tools that make them do things their makers didn't plan for.
What I build
Most of my projects are for Flashforge printers running Zmod, the community firmware mod:
- zmod_nfc: NFC filament tags and Spoolman QR labels for Zmod.
- zmod_esp32-nfc: a Wi-Fi NFC filament reader built from an ESP32.
- esp32_rfidnfc2usb_bridge: puts PN532, RC522 or PN5180 readers on USB.
- C5_USBNIC: wired Ethernet for the Creator 5 Pro.
All of them are free and open source. You can find them all on GitHub.
How I test
Everything here runs on my own printers:
- Flashforge AD5X (×2)
- Flashforge Creator 5 Pro
- FLSUN T1 Pro
- Snapmaker U1
When a guide says something was tested, it was tested on real hardware. When support is written but hasn't been run on a physical part yet, the guide says so.
How I pick products
The products on this site are parts that work with my projects: the ESP32 boards, NFC reader modules, tags and adapters the guides are built around. Each product card says which project it works with.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy through a "View on Amazon" link, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It helps pay for the hardware I test with. It never decides what I recommend.
